What is an industrial misting system?

When is it the best solution against the heat?

Not every heat problem has the same solution. An industrial misting system delivers its best performance in specific situations that are worth knowing before choosing a unit:

  • Spaces that cannot be closed. Industrial buildings with open doors, logistics warehouses with constant goods traffic or hospitality terraces lose all the cooling from an air conditioner in seconds. Micro-misting acts directly on the circulating air and keeps a comfortable temperature even with natural ventilation.
  • Large areas with variable occupancy. A sports event, a festival or a trade fair can gather hundreds of people in one area for hours and be empty the next day. Portable industrial misting systems can be relocated in minutes and scale with real demand, without oversizing the installation.
  • Environments where electricity is a limited resource. On construction sites, at agricultural facilities or at outdoor events, connecting several split units is not always possible. A high-flow industrial misting system uses a fraction of the energy of an equivalent air-conditioning unit, running from a standard plug socket.
  • Closed spaces where the cooling must be retained. If your building works with the doors closed and you need to lower the temperature of the whole volume, sometimes the most efficient solution is not misting but an industrial evaporative cooler, which moves large volumes of fresh air continuously. We will advise you on which suits your case best.
  • Industries with temperature and humidity requirements. In greenhouses, wineries, ripening rooms or production lines where relative humidity has a direct impact on the product, the misting system lets you adjust ambient conditions precisely without complex fixed installations.

What sets a good industrial misting system apart?

The market is full of units that promise to cool and end up making everything wet. The difference lies in three technical factors that determine whether an industrial misting system really works or becomes a problem:

Droplet size. Above 15–20 microns, the droplet does not evaporate in the air and falls onto people and surfaces. Blizzcool misting systems produce droplets below 10 microns, which ensures complete evaporation even on cooler days.

System pressure. A low-pressure pump produces large, irregular droplets. Blizzcool’s high-pressure misting system ensures a fine, uniform mist that spreads evenly across the whole coverage area.

Real autonomy. A small tank forces frequent stops that interrupt work or the event. The BSM160L and BSM380L models, with 160 and 380 litre tanks respectively, are designed to run continuously for full working days without refilling.

Sectors and applications of the industrial misting system

Blizzcool industrial misting systems work in very different environments, but in all of them they solve the same problem: maintaining thermal conditions that allow people to work, produce or enjoy themselves normally.

  • Industrial buildings and logistics: Reduces heat stress during production shifts without interfering with machinery, electrical circuits or metal racking.
  • Hospitality and restaurants: Keeps terraces full in summer, increasing table turnover with no need for fixed structures or building permits.
  • Sports and cultural events: Covers spectator areas, benches, warm-up zones and VIP areas with immediate, mobile cooling.
  • Sports halls and campuses: Cools facilities without a central system, with coverage of up to 250 m² per unit.
  • Greenhouses and agriculture: Regulates temperature and relative humidity during critical heat periods, protecting crops without waterlogging.
  • Livestock farming: Reduces heat stress in animals, with a direct impact on milk, meat and egg production in the summer months.
  • Building and construction: Immediate cooling in outdoor work areas, with no installation and complete freedom of movement.
  • Markets, fairs and exhibitions: Encourages visitors to stay longer and improves the perceived comfort of the event.

Frequently asked questions about industrial misting systems

Can an industrial misting system be used indoors?

Yes, as long as the space has some ventilation. In completely closed spaces with no air renewal, relative humidity can build up. In buildings with open doors, warehouses with cross ventilation or semi-open spaces, performance is optimal.

What is the difference between an industrial misting system and a humidifier?

The purpose is different. A humidifier aims to increase relative humidity in closed spaces. An industrial misting system aims to cool the environment through evaporation, with a higher flow rate and designed for large, open spaces where humidification is a side effect, not the goal.

How many square metres does an industrial misting system cover?

It depends on the model, the outdoor temperature and the ventilation of the space. The BSM160L is ideal for areas of up to 150 m²; the BSM380L for up to 250 m² under intensive use.

What maintenance does it need?

Very little. The main task is cleaning the misting nozzles regularly to prevent limescale build-up. With no compressor or gas circuit, it does not need specialist technical inspections or maintenance contracts.

How much power does an industrial misting system use?

As it has no compressor, power consumption is limited to the fan motor and the water pump, making it far lower than any air-conditioning unit of equivalent output. It can run from a standard plug socket with no need for a dedicated electrical installation.

Does it work on very humid days?

Its performance drops when relative humidity exceeds 70–75%, as the air has less capacity to absorb more vapour. In Spain’s Mediterranean and continental climate, where the hottest days are usually also the driest, the industrial misting system performs at its best precisely when it is needed most.
