Ventilation and cooling for CrossFit, boxing and martial arts
CrossFit boxes, boxing gyms, MMA academies, martial arts dojos and functional training centres. High-intensity disciplines that send body temperature and the heat load of the space soaring within minutes. Blizzcool units renew the air and bring the temperature down without building work or permanent fixed installations.
The heat challenge in high-intensity spaces
A CrossFit box, a boxing gym or a martial arts dojo is a space where physical activity is extreme. In a class of 15–20 people, the heat load generated by bodies working flat out raises the indoor temperature by several degrees in just a few minutes, even with the doors open.
Most of these centres operate in industrial premises or converted warehouses, with metal sheet roofs, poor ventilation and no thermal insulation. In summer, the indoor temperature can exceed 40 °C before the class even starts.
Evaporative coolers supply fresh, renewed air without recirculating it. Wall-mounted and portable fans direct the airflow to the areas of greatest intensity. The result: a space where temperature does not dictate the workout.
Typical applications
Each discipline has its own pattern of use, but they all share the same need: fresh, renewed air at a controlled temperature during training.
CrossFit boxes
Evaporative coolers aimed at the WOD area. Portable fans for the strength stations and rigs. Renewed air during busy classes with 15–25 people training at the same time.
Boxing and kickboxing gyms
Wall-mounted fans aimed at the ring and bag areas. Evaporative coolers as general back-up. Fresh air delivered straight to where the activity generates the most body heat.
MMA and martial arts academies
Enclosed padded mat areas that retain heat. Directed ventilation from wall-mounted or portable units to move the air without creating uncomfortable draughts during groundwork.
Functional training centres
Hybrid spaces with strength, cardio and mobility stations. Evaporative coolers to bring down the overall temperature and portable fans to reinforce the areas of greatest effort.
Recommended units for CrossFit and martial arts
The right combination depends on the size of the box, the ceiling height and the number of athletes per class. These are the product families most used in high-intensity centres.
Why Blizzcool for high-intensity centres
Renewed air, not recirculated
Evaporative coolers push out the hot air and replace it with fresh air from outside. In a box with 20 people training at maximum intensity, the difference in air quality is immediate.
Works with the doors open
Most CrossFit boxes train with the warehouse door open. Evaporative coolers do not need a sealed space: they work just as well with natural cross-ventilation.
No building work or fixed installation
Portable coolers and fans just plug in and work. They can be repositioned between classes or put away in the low season. Ideal for rented premises where building work is not allowed.
Keep members through the summer
A box that keeps the temperature under control in July and August does not lose members to the heat. Ventilation becomes a selling point for retention and for attracting members away from the competition.
Minimal consumption
An evaporative cooler uses between 0.5 and 1.5 kW: a fraction of the cost of conventional air conditioning. For a box open 10–12 hours a day, the savings are significant.
